Katie Forest
Early Childhood Special Educator
Katie Forest is one of ASAPC’s Early Childhood Special Educators. She has her Master’s in special education, with an emphasis on learning disabilities. Many of her colleagues are unaware that she also has a bachelor’s degree in English, with an emphasis on writing, rhetoric, and culture. Katie has also been the recipient of a writing award and scholarship. “I could potentially be teaching special education K-12 English, but I prefer to work in early intervention so I can be more involved in supporting families.” She is inspired daily to help people, regardless. With every caregiver she meets, she comes with an open mind, “we should leave expectations at the door, knowing they want the best for their child, and I want to support that goal however I can.”
When Katie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her favorite people and feline. Her 22-year-old daughter is an incredibly compassionate, funny, bright, patient, and empathetic who is the love of her life Katie also loves spending time with her amazing ten-year-old Autistic nephew who is smart, funny, creative, and a bit of a Renaissance man as he has many special interests and hobbies. They have a perfect cat named Jared who is wild in the streets but a baby at home.
